We are in the dog days of summer and that usually means it is a perfect time to take your kids fishing.

Chris Holden was at White’s Corner Bait in Madison Lake picking up some crappie minnows with his daughter Emily before they headed out to Big Jefferson.

“Emily is done with softball and swimming softball so I can finally take her fishing,” said Chris

Emily was picking out a new jig-in-a-tube while chatting with me about swimming lessons through the Girl Scouts and playing softball for the Cleveland Clippers

“In swimming I won a lot of different ribbons and I got some blue ones,” said Emily “I am going to be starting girl scouts this fall and we are selling cookies.”

When it comes to fishing Emily said “I think its fun and I like catching fish.”

As with all people who love to fish, Emily had a story to tell.

“Once I was fishing with my dad and he set his pole down and asked me to watch it for him” said Emily “A northern hit his line and I reeled it in.  My dad had to help me reel because it was big.”

Thanks for taking the time to share your fishing story with everyone Emily.
