St. Clair girls down Medford 11-1
MEDFORD, MINN. — The St. Clair Cyclones defeated the Medford Tigers 11-1 in a non-conference softball matchup on Thursday to improve to 4-1 on the Season.
St. Clari will host Maple River in a non-conference game on Monday, April 25th with a 5:00 pm scheduled start.
The Cyclones started off the first inning with a Dani Boettcher walk and stolen base setting up an RBI single by Abby Nicolai making it 1-0.
In the second inning, Joci Hanson and Dani Lynch singled setting up back to back perfect sacrifice bunts by Megan Devens and Emma Morson as St. Clair extended its lead 3-0.
The Tigers threatened in the bottom of the second inning but catcher Dani Boettcher gunned down the base runner holding the lead at three.
In the third inning, Cassidy Anderegg singled and Katelyn Karels tripled scoring another run. Then courtesy runner Katelyn Schenk scored when Claire Anderson laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to extend the lead to 5-0. Medford scored a run in the bottom of the inning to narrow the lead to 5-1.
St. Clair blew open the game in the 4th inning scoring 6 runs. Lynch walked and Megan Devens singled, setting up four straight hits by Boettcher, Anderegg, Karels (triple) and Nicolai (triple) as the score read 11-1.
Katelyn Karels took it from there as the senior fired a complete game getting the win pitching.
Karels also went 2-3 with 2 runs at the plate while Boettcher, Anderegg and Nicolai each chipped in two hits apiece.
