Convicted Felon Troy Scott Martin Arrested In Handgun Sale

LAKE CRYSTAL, MINN. — The Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force arrested convicted felon Troy Scott Martin, 32, of rural Madelia on Friday in Lake Crystal after he sold a handgun to a Task Force Agent.
On Friday, March 3 at approximately 2100 hours an Agent with the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force (MRVDTF) conducted a controlled purchase of a handgun in the City of Lake Crystal, Blue Earth County.
The MRVDTF Agent, acting in an undercover capacity, met with Troy Scott Martin in the City of Lake Crystal for the purpose of purchasing a handgun from Troy Scott Martin. After the controlled purchase, Troy Scoot Martin was stopped by uniformed officers and arrested. Troy Scott Martin was accompanied by two other adult males who are not being charged at this time.
Troy Scott Martin has a long list of convictions dating back to 2002 with convictions ranging from traffic violations to possession of drug paraphernalia and drugs, all either petty misdemeanor or misdemeanor convictions. In 2014, Troy Scott Martin was convicted of burglary and 5th degree possession of schedule 1,2,3, 4 drug possession in Watonwan County, both are felony crimes.

Troy Scott Martin is a convicted felon and is currently in the Blue Earth County Jail on charges of felon in possession of a firearm.
Minnesota law states that regardless of the offense type, felons may not possess a firearm until the sentence has expired, including any period of probation or supervised release. A person charged with a felony may not receive, ship, or transport a pistol or assault weapon.
