BLC Baseball Splits with MLC

NEW ULM, MINN. – The Bethany Lutheran baseball team played their final non-conference games on Tuesday afternoon against Martin Luther College before the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) season begins. The Vikings and Knights split the doubleheader with the Knights taking game one 2-1 and BLC coming away with the 22-3 win in the second contest.
The Vikings (8-11) will begin the 2017 UMAC schedule with a doubleheader in Ashland, Wisconsin against Northland College on Saturday. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
GAME ONE: Box Score
Sophomore Anthony Radloff (Green Bay, Wis.) pitched six strong innings for Bethany Lutheran. The lefty gave up just six hits while surrendering two earned runs to go along with five strikeouts. Junior John Brown (Lake City, Minn.) led the Vikings with two of the team’s six total hits.
GAME TWO: Box Score
In a game that was completely opposite of game one, the Vikings pounded out 18 hits compared to the Knights nine to come away with the non-conference series split.
- Walker Linde (Wells, Minn.) ended the game with four hits, three runs scored and three RBI’s.
- Alek Zentzis (Forest Lake, Minn.) contributed with three hits, five RBI’s and two runs scored.
- Trent Saharek (San Clemante, Calif.) hit his first home run of the 2017 season. The senior finished with five RBI’s and two runs scored.
- Freshman Jake LaBerge (Round Rock, Texas) hit his first collegiate home run in the top of the fourth inning.
