Maple River Baseball falls to WEM 1-0

WATERVILLE, MINN. — The Maple River baseball team lost a tough 1-0 seven inning game to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Tuesday on the road. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 2-2 on the season while the Buccaneers improve to 5-1.

Maple River will host United South Central on Thursday, April 20 with a 5:00 pm scheduled start.

Sam Bennett pitched a solid game throwing 6 innings while giving up 6 hits and 1 run but the Eagles offense could not muster any runs to give the junior support.

Maple River had 4 hits during the game with Jeff Lewis collecting a single and double. Bennett (double) and Caleb Swehla (single) collected the other hits for the Eagles.

Dallas McBroom picked up the win for WEM, throwing 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out 12. Taylor Glende picked up the save throwing 1 inning and giving up 1 hit.
