Maple River Softball Defeats WEM 8-7

MAPLETON, MINN. — The Maple River Eagles softball team won Tuesday’s home non-conference game against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown by a score of 8-7. With the win the Eagles improve to 3-0 while the Buccaneers fall to 2-1.

Maple River will play conference rival United South Central on the road Thursday with a 5:00 pm scheduled start.

Payton Berkner picked up the win for the Eagles throwing 7 innings. She gave up 10 hits, 7 runs (4 earned) and struck out 7 batters.

The Eagles had 9 hits during the game.  Bridgette Kollos led the team with 3 hits and scoring 2 times while driving in 1 run. Kelsey Sohre and Sydney Trio had 2 hits each. Hannah Osdoba and Berkner had 1 hit each.
