Local business women launch the “Week of Hope”
MANKATO, MINN. – Many Mankato area residents have already visited or at least heard of WYSIWYG Juice Co. This downtown Mankato local business is launching into its second year with plans to serve up their cold-pressed juices with a big side of hope. Why hope?
What many don’t know is that co-founders, Marie Farley Christensen and Kristi Schuck, were brought together through a shared bond of grief. Both Kristi & Marie lost their husbands to colorectal cancer. But through that difficult experience, Kristi & Marie found hope in healing in each other’s friendship and the common journey they had both taken to a lifestyle of organic whole foods and juicing as caretakers for their beloved husbands. That journey led them to open WYSIWYG Juice Co. to share health and hope with everyone! That is what the Week of Hope is all about.
The first annual week of hope is Thursday April 27 – May 4, 2017. Why these dates? Twelve years ago on April 27 Bob, Marie’s husband, passed away. Two years ago on May 4 was the day Wes, Kristi’s husband, passed away. Exactly ten years and one week apart. So those dates mark the celebration of two beautiful lives taken too soon. But it is also a celebration and a giving back. As part of the events, Kristi & Marie will establish WYSIWYG for Hope in Healing, a community organization dedicated to connecting those that have lost loved ones with resources for hope in healing.
The Week of Hope begins and ends with a party! Thursday April 27 and May 4, 2017 from 5:30-6:30PM the juice shop will host a Healthy Happy Hour. An hour of healthy cold-pressed juice “mocktails,” games, food samples, prizes, and more!
Monday May 1, May Day, they plan a 5:30AM Dawn Dance Party with an easy-to-follow dance party class, cold-pressed juice, snacks, and plenty of coffee right in the shop!
Saturday April 29 at 10am will launch the first annual High 5 for Hope 5K fun run/walk. It begins and ends at the juice shop and includes cheering and water stations, photo booth, motivational talk with Kristi & Marie at 11AM, and bibs that can be personalized to commemorate and honor a lost loved one you race for that day. You can sign up for this FREE or donation-based race at http://tinyurl.comhigh5kforhope2017
