St Clair shuts-out Kingsland 47-0

ST CLAIR, MINN. — The St. Clair Cyclones defeated the Kingsland High Knights 47-0 in their first home game of the season this past Friday night. With the victory the Cyclones improve to 1-1 on the season. St. Clair will host Minnesota Valley Lutheran (0-2) on Friday with a 7:00 pm scheduled start.

The Cyclones scored often and early, going up 20-0 in the first quarter. Senior quarterback Dylan Schons put the Cyclones up 6-0 with a long run for the early 7-0 lead and followed up with another run shortly after to put the Cyclones up 13-0. Junior running back Noah Schruin extended the lead to 20-0 after he rushed into the end zone before time ran out in the first quarter.

Schons connected with senior receiver Aaron Drummer with a 22 yard pass in the second quarter for the lone score in the second quarter. Gage Baker was 3-4 on extra points to put the half time score at 27-0.

The Cyclones came out strong in the third quarter scoring 3 touchdowns. The first score came from a 31 yard pass from Schons to Drummer.

Senior running back Mason Stenzel wanted part of the action and ran in two more touchdowns to end the third quarter and put St. Clair up 47-0.

Schons was 3/7 in passing for 65 yards and had 171 of the teams 335 yards rushing. Schruin added 78 yards and Stenzel 59 yards. Drummer landed two passes for 53 yards and Schruin had 12 yards. Defensively Grant Nagel led with 5 tackles, 3 assists and 2 tackle for losses. Schons took down 3 Knights and has 1 assist. Matt Strobel had one solo tackle and assisted 5 times for the Cyclone defense.
