Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota Unveils New Dairy Barn Exhibit in AgLab

Mankato Times

MANKATO, MINN. – On Saturday, October 7 at 10:00 am, you are invited to celebrate the unveiling of a new Dairy Barn exhibit in the AgLab at the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota, 224 Lamm Street, Mankato.  Come see a scale model dairy barn where children can take on the role of a dairy farmer by managing manure, controlling the climate, and keeping cows comfortable on various types of bedding. Cows can be fed and watered, as well brought out to graze on pasture in this new hands-on exhibit.

The new Dairy Barn exhibit at the Museum is sponsored by Nicollet County Dairy Producers, Brown County Dairy Producers, Waseca County Dairy Association, and Southern Minnesota Center of Agriculture.

Join us at Harvest Festival throughout the month October at the Children’s Museum to celebrate fall and meet farm animals, learn how to care for them, what they eat and where they live, what they are used for, and more. Learn about farming, explore and sample the crops growing in the Museum gardens, run through the Toddler Maze, and play in the Corn and Soybean Pits. The Museum is the place to be, fall after fall! This year’s Harvest Festival is presented by Wingert Realty & Land Services, Inc. and Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council.

The non-profit Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota has welcomed nearly 100,000 visitors during each of its first two years of operation. With the mission of igniting the natural curiosity of every child through the power of play in a dynamic, awe-inspiring environment, the Museum engages diverse audiences of Museum visitors from across our region, and enriches children and families with opportunities for hands-on play. Visit us at:
