Maple River Girls Open Season with 67-51 Victory

MAPLETON, MINN. — The Maple River High School girls’ basketball team kicked off the 2017-18 season with a 67-51 home non-conference win over Granada Huntley East Chain-Truman-Martin Luther Thursday.

The Eagles shot 47% on the night making 27-57 shots and were led by junior Madi Schirmer’s 37 points (15/25). Shirmer also had 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals on the night.

Maple River controlled the boards, outrebounding the Mustangs 36-22 with Hannah Osdoba leading the Eagles with 7 rebounds. Osdoba added 2 assists, 1 block and 4 points during the game.

It was a good game for Maple River as every player contributed, either through scoring or by pulling down a rebound.

The Eagles play host to Medford in a Gopher Conference matchup tonight (Friday) with a 7:15 scheduled start.
