Minnesota State Mankato students hosting “It’s Glow Time 5K” benefiting LEEP

MANKATO, MINN. — Students from Minnesota State University Mankato Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services Department are hosting a Glow Run to benefit Leisure Education for Exceptional People (LEEP) on Friday, April 20th, 2018 at the Minnesota State Mankato Fitness Trail.

Registration price is $25 which includes: T-Shirt (if registered before April 4), two glow sticks, free giveaways and a chance to enter our sponsored drawings.

It’s Glow Time 5K check-in will be held between 7:00-7:45pm and the 5K will start at 8:00 pm. Drawings will be held following the completion of the last participant and you must be present to win.

All proceeds from the glow run go towards benefiting LEEP.

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services (RPLS) is situated within the College of Allied Health and Nursing. Students learn the science behind recreation, parks and leisure. They also learn how to help people live well and flourish, and how to manage natural resources for people’s enjoyment now and for generations to come. LEEP provides recreation and leisure programming for people with disabilities that focuses on increasing life skills, self esteem building, and healthy living. Additionally, there is a large focus on community inclusion and integration of people living with disabilities into the Greater Mankato community. Increasing education and community inclusion provides opportunities for people with disabilities to live a fulfilling life through employment, recreation, socialization, and independent living. Programming can change the life of one participant and lift up the entire community.
